Vendor-Neutral Valve Control

Tue, 11/27/2012 - 10:44am

Balluff valve connectorAccording to Balluff, its distributed modular I/O valve manifold connector can dramatically reduce the cost and time of installation and repair by using an industrial network and changing 25 conductor terminations into a simple M12 4-wire connection. Other features and benefits include:

  • 25-pin D-sub manifolds that cost less than their networked counterparts, are plug and play with distributed modular I/O, and are typically standard off-the-shelf components, so they are easy to specify, source and repair.
  • Compatibility with most major valve brands, such as MAC, SMC, Festo, Parker, Bosch Rexroth, Norgren and Numatics.
  • Accommodations for EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Profibus and CC-Link networks.
  • The flexibility to use IO-Link, a vendor-neutral communication standard, to combine virtually any networks and valve brands that can be specified, regardless of what is offered from the valve manufacturer.
  • The ability to be active up to 1.1 A at 24 V total at once.
  • The control of up to 24 output positions per manifold and up to 4 manifolds or slave devices per master device.
  • The capability of any combination of manifolds or other IO-Link devices to be hooked to each master device.
