American-Made Dry Screw Vacuum Pump

Mon, 04/11/2011 - 6:51am

Tuthill KDS425According to Tuthill Vacuum & Blower Systems, its KDS425 vertical-flow, dry screw vacuum pump is the first to be designed and manufactured in the U.S. The top-down vertical flow design results in gravity aiding continued movement of particulates and condensate to the exhaust of the pump, isolating it from the rotor chamber. Other features include:

  • A vertical cantilever design to keep process condensable from collecting in the pump process chamber.
  • A process seal with gas purging to eliminate process chemical migration to the atmosphere.
  • High nickel content rotor construction to resist corrosion.
  • The absence of external seals, ending leaky driveshaft messes.
  • Variable pitch for better efficiency (compared to straight-pitch designs).
  • Dry-running operation to stop pump oil contamination.
  • Thermostatic temperature control that automatically adjusts for wide variations in heat load.
  • Relatively high internal pump temperatures to keep vapor loads from condensing in the pump.
  • Standard NEMA or IEC frame motors, which are easily adapted for practically any application.
  • Process components that are easy to service and clean without disturbing utility connections.
  • Rotors that can be replaced without replacing or moving the entire machine.
  • A cogged belt drive that provides quiet, no-slip or stretch operation.
  • Suitability for use in industrial or process applications.
  • Optional Xylan/Nitrocoat coatings to ensure pump longevity in corrosive environments.
