Dryer for Fine Powder

A recent increase in capacity required an additional L-size Turbo-Dryer to heat-treat a fine (70 micron) metal oxide powder. This design can operate at temperatures up to 650°C to calcine or sinter metal powders. The unit includes an internal electrical heating system to provide the heat to remove the residual moisture. A small purge of dry air or nitrogen purges water vapor from the system, keeping fines carryover to a minimum. The dryer is a proprietary continuous tray design that consists of a stack of rotating circular trays in a sealed enclosure. Material is fed onto the top tray, and after each revolution is wiped onto the next lower tray where it is mixed, leveled, and then after one revolution, is wiped to the next tray where the operation is repeated. The trays are contained in an enclosure in which heated air or gas is circulated by internal fans.
