Governor, Others Mark Opening of Opelika Plant
OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) — The governor and other officials are celebrating the official opening of a plant in Opelika that makes vitamins, minerals and dietary supplements.
Gov. Robert Bentley, House Speaker Mike Hubbard, and Opelika Mayor Gary Fuller are scheduled to join executives of Pharmavite for the grand opening of the manufacturing facility Friday morning.
Pharmavite officials picked Opelika for a plant location in 2011. Manufacturing began in January. A company spokesman said the plant employs 245 people and expects to have 260 by the end of the year. The plant represents a total investment of nearly $90 million.
Pharmavite is based in Northridge, Calif., and its brands include Nature Made and Voots Veggie Fruit Tarts.
