Hamilton Sundstrand Machinists Approve New Contract
WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (AP) -- Machinists union workers at aviation electronics manufacturer Hamilton Sundstrand Corp. have overwhelmingly approved a new three-year contract.
Members of Local 743 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers voted Sunday afternoon in Windsor Locks, where the company is based. Union officials say only about 5 percent of voting members opposed the contract.
The Republican of Springfield, Mass., reports that the contract includes 2.5 percent pay raises for each of the three years, but workers will have to pay more for health insurance. The average hourly salary of $25 will increase by about 62 cents an hour.
The union represents about 1,050 workers at Hamilton Sundstrand, a division of Hartford-based United Technologies Corp.
