Infor ION Becomes Infor's Top-Selling and Fastest Growing Product
Infor, a leading provider of business application software serving more than 70,000 customers, today announced strong momentum for Infor ION technology. More than 900 organizations in 59 countries have purchased ION, making it the top-selling and fastest-growing product in Infor's portfolio of industry-specialized software products.
An innovative lightweight middleware, Infor ION is a flexible and powerful integration framework that seamlessly connects operational, front office and back office systems across the entire business using industry standard XML document exchange. ION enables a modern, consumer-inspired user experience that incorporates social, mobile, and cloud computing in existing environments, unlocking hidden information and analytics when and where it is needed.
To better manage the strong growth of this platform, Infor has hired Steve Moroski as senior vice president of Platform Technologies. Moroski, an industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience, joins Infor from Oracle Corp., where he most recently served as group vice president for engineered systems.
"The strong momentum Infor is experiencing for ION and other platform technologies is a testament to the benefits of simple, lightweight middleware built on open standards," said Stephan Scholl, president of Infor. "With a proven track-record that demonstrates a unique understanding of platform technologies and their application to drive business process improvement, Steve Moroski is the ideal person to lead this high-growth area for Infor."
Among the companies that have purchased Infor ION to connect multiple Infor systems are A. Schulman, BAE Systems, Brewster Dairy, Ferrari, Hi-Tech Mouldings, Pan Emirates, Preferred Sands, and PRIDE Industries.
"One of our biggest challenges was connecting our processes to deliver information to make informed decisions with correct and up-to-date information," said Luke Rains, system development director, Preferred Sands. "Integration is a key part of our system functionality and using ION to integrate our processes and Mongoose to build scalable applications quickly and securely gives us the ability to make changes quickly and know that our processes are working to give us information when we need it."
In addition, ION can be used to integrate Infor applications with non-Infor applications and was instrumental in the development of Inforce Everywhere and Inforce Marketing.
"If you don't have a tool like ION in your organization, you're limiting what you can buy and the cost you'll spend to develop interfaces between systems," said Kendal Phipps, senior systems analyst, PRIDE Industries. "Having the right tools in the toolbox is essential for our business to grow and to deal with issues. We don't want to turn away a $20 million a year contract because we can't handle the 'X' amount of documents, or that we can't interface to the customer's system. So this gives us that confidence to say, 'Yeah, we can do it!'"
Brewster Dairy, a leading manufacturer of quality cheese, using ION to integrate its Infor ERP and asset management systems in 2011, has received widespread industry recognition for advanced use of technology to improve performance. In addition to being selected "Customer of the Year" at Inforum 2012, Brewster Dairy was recognized by Ventana Research for IT performance management, and was a finalist in the Saugatuck BEACON awards.
