BP cited for North Sea safety failings

LONDON (Reuters) - UK safety regulators criticized BP Plc's safety training procedures in the North Sea just months before a blown-out BP well in the Gulf of Mexico caused America's worst ever oil spill.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the UK government body monitoring compliance with companies' approved emergency plans, also cited BP for failing to adequately conduct oil spill exercises.
