DETROIT (AP) -- General Motors is replacing its newly named marketing chief with the former head of marketing at Hyundai Motor America, the latest shakeup at the automaker.
Joel Ewanick (ee-wan\'-ick) takes over as vice president of U.S. marketing from Susan Docherty (dock\'-er-ty). Docherty previously ran both the sales and marketing divisions at GM, but saw her duties shrink to just marketing in March. GM says it is still deciding on her new role.
Ewanick led several marketing campaigns at Hyundai last year that were instrumental in boosting the Korean automaker\'s market share, including a wildly successful promotion to take back vehicles from customers who lose their jobs.
Ewanick left Hyundai for Nissan North America in March, but spent just a few months there.
