North American use of chemically modified fillers and reinforcements in plastics is expected to grow to nearly 4 billion pounds per year by 2010, outstripping the growth rate in plastics by 1-2 percent per year, according to Pennsylvania-based Principia Partners. The consulting group said the use of fillers and reinforcements for plastics has grown dramatically over the past decade, reaching almost 3 billion pounds in 2005.
