Shaft Seals for Screw Conveyors

Meco air-purged seals contain dry, abrasive, bulk powders, pastes, and slurries in screw conveyors and other rotating equipment. They are engineered to reduce equipment downtime by a factor of 4 or more over packing glands and can be rebuilt on site. Their patented design is based on the use of a driving elastomer, which co-rotates with the shaft. Since this self-compensating driving elastomer is the seal’s only interface with the shaft, the seals accommodate significant radial shaft misalignment and shock loads while protecting the shaft and bearings from abrasion damage. Fully split versions can be installed and maintained without disturbing the bearing or drive assembly. They accommodate diametric shaft run-out of 6 mm or more.
