Position Sensors

Non-contact, intrinsically safe position sensors and switching amplifiers are designed for hazardous area applications. These intrinsically safe devices can be installed in hazardous area environments that contain atmosphere with ignitable gas-air mixtures, dusts and fibers without causing fires or explosions. Typical applications are found in chemical plants, grain silos and food additive/powder mixing areas. Together, the position sensor and switching amplifier form an intrinsically safe sensing system. The amplifier limits electrical and thermal energy to prevent ignition and potential arcing or sparking between the sensor and combustible material.
