The HDL Seal is designed to solve the problems associated with sealing bearings on the large rolling mills that produce products such as paper and primary metals. These are difficult operating environments where it's critical to retain bearing lubricants and exclude extreme contaminants. The seal is designed to provide excellent sealing performance while compensating for common factors such as roll deflection, shaft misalignment and run-out. Its stainless steel finger and garter spring largely eliminate the effects of external forces that cause changes to lip film thickness under the lip, which is necessary for sealing function.
