Reduce Hanging Chain Accidents

with this simple device

Chains hanging from overhead equipment can be a serious issue for plant safety engineers. "Chain Away" is designed to help alleviate this problem. It is a low cost, virtually indestructible polypropylene container that keeps chains from blocking traffic. Top of Chain Away is fitted with a heavy-duty hook; the bottom, with open-grid for drainage, forms a handle. When the valve or other chain operated component is not being used or adjusted, the chain is gathered into the container and hung on an overhead link or some structural element off to the side. To reverse the operation, operator simply grasps the handle, lifts off the container, and lowers the chain automatically, paying it out ready for use.
