Bio-Rings

for wastewater treatment

Cascade Bio-Rings are a new style of plastic media for applications incorporating biological filters. Rings can be used by wastewater facilities with biological filters. Plastic material fills inside of filter, and then wastewater is trickled evenly over it. Rings provide surface area for a biomass to attach and grow. Aerobic biomass uses organic matter in wastewater as a food source and oxygen in wastewater to metabolize it. As various microorganisms feed on different organic substances, new cells are produced and layer grows thicker. Eventually, when organic material layer becomes so thick that innermost layers are deprived of oxygen; microorganisms die and lose their ability to cling to plastic media. Incoming liquid from wastewater trickle then washes loose layer from filter media. Properly designed and operated, system is continuous and efficient.
