Nanosilica-Filled Reinforced Epoxy

UV22 nanosilica-filled one-component UV-curable epoxy for coating, sealing, and encapsulation features high abrasion resistance, optical clarity, low shrinkage, and high physical strength properties. It cures rapidly at room temperature upon exposure to UV light and is not oxygen inhibited. It has a service operating temperature range of 㫔°F to +300°F (㫊°C to +150°C). Post curing enhances its temperature resistance profile. Adding heat (195°F to 257°F for 30 minutes) will give it a glass transition temperature of 275°F, far higher than traditional UV systems. This is also effective in increasing its chemical resistance to solvents, acids, and bases. Despite the high percentage of nanoparticles (greater than 35 percent), it retains high transparency and low viscosity without sedimentation due to the agglomerate-free colloidal dispersion of the nanoparticles in the resin. The material has a Shore D hardness of greater than 80 and a tensile strength of greater than 4,600 psi, a refractive index of 1.52, and shrinkage of 1-2 percent.
